BIUM — Fridge Receipt
BIUM Privacy Policy
Core use does not require creating an account.
Food records are stored on the user's device by default.
User-added product photos may sync only as thumbnails.
1. Service Name
BIUM is an Android app that helps users manage food expiry dates and storage status on their own device.
2. Stored Information
The app stores food information that the user enters directly on the device.
- Food name, quantity, and storage location
- Consume-by date, expiry date, or best-before date
- Food status: active, consumed, discarded, or frozen
- User notes or parts of OCR source text entered by the user
- User-added product photos
- Shopping list, notification settings, and subscription status
3. Photos and OCR
Camera photos are used only to recognize printed dates.
- Date-recognition photos are not saved. If family sharing is enabled, user-added product photo thumbnails and food data may sync with Firebase.
- OCR photos for date recognition are not permanently stored after recognition.
- OCR photos for date recognition are not uploaded to a server.
- User-added product photos may be stored on the device.
- If family sharing is enabled, compressed product photo thumbnails may be uploaded to Firebase Storage so household members can see them.
- Date recognition is processed with on-device OCR.
- Recognized date candidates and the user-confirmed result may be saved in the food record.
4. Local-First Storage
Food records, shopping lists, report records, and local settings are stored first on the user's device. BIUM does not send food records to its own server.
The app disables Android Auto Backup so food records, shopping lists, and local settings are not automatically stored in Google Backup by app configuration.
5. Family Sharing
Family sharing is optional. If the user turns it on, encrypted sync data, product photo thumbnails, and invite information may be stored with Firebase services so family members can share the same fridge list.
Family invite codes should be shared only with trusted family members. If family sharing is not enabled, food records are managed on this device by default.
6. Payments and Subscriptions
PRO subscription payments are processed through Google Play and RevenueCat. The app may check subscription status needed for access, but it does not directly store payment method details such as card numbers.
7. Notifications
If the user enables notifications, the app may show reminders for foods nearing their date or for opened foods. Notifications can be turned off in the user's device settings.
8. Third-Party Services
The app may use the following services.
- Google Play Billing: subscription payment processing
- RevenueCat: subscription entitlement verification
- Google ML Kit Text Recognition: on-device text recognition
- Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Storage, and App Check: optional family sharing sync
9. Data Deletion
Using the clear-data feature in Settings deletes food records, shopping lists, and local settings stored on the device. Notification settings are also turned off, scheduled app notification work is canceled, and this device is disconnected from family sharing.
Requests related to deletion of subscription entitlement data can be sent to just_twobites@icloud.com. Payment records or information that must be retained legally may be handled according to Google Play, RevenueCat, or applicable legal policies.
